I wanted to say thanks, again, for the IDC class. You were exceptional in your training and provided exactly what we needed to become good scuba instructors. It was obvious at the IE that we were better prepared and were able to perform our skills much better than the other students.

You also provided a much needed view into the life of a dive professional, having owned and run your own successful dive shop for such a long time. The stories you told and the passing of your experiences were as worthwhile as the other materials you taught.

When I arrived in Key Largo little more than a week ago, I was under prepared expecting the course to be a review and a lot of PointPoint. Your OWSI course exceeded all my expectations, your teachings added to skills, knowledge, and ability as an instructor and as a diver.

Under your guidance, Mylana and I worked very hard on the academics. I know it probably came as a surprise when you learned we sat in the classroom for an entire day just working on Physics problems, but our efforts literally doubled Mylana's score and I scored higher at the Instructor Exam than any time I've ever taken a PADI Physics Exam. Your commitment to our success in the Instructor Exam was tangible, and both Mylana and I felt a responsibility to succeed. I believe inviting us to your home, and buying food while we studied goes beyond the call of duty; call me impressed.

There were many moments of the weeklong experience I'll never forget, you adding "It's Easy" to nearly every question and answer, Mylana's first attempt at the pocket mask rescue nearly taking me out, how excited you, Ron, and Ed were when I began to develop as an Instructor on the second day; I know I'll never forget Mylana hauling that tin of Bag Balm around.

I wish you were able to see us graduate at the Instructor Exam; it was a special moment. I'm very grateful I met you, Ed, Ron, Mylana, and Brian. I believe I met more than couple divers on a trip, I believe we made friendships.

I promise to return to Key Largo soon and work on a few PADI Specialties, maybe even the MSDT. I'll see you and the Horizon Divers crew soon. Please be safe under the ice, and try to stay warm!

I just wanted to thank Tom, Andy and Dan for helping me make a career out of diving. I attended Horizon Divers IDC in September 2008 and I strongly recommend checking them out if you’re interested in becoming a Padi Instructor. The dive operation at Horizon is an excellent operation to model your own business from. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and they have a genuine interest in seeing their students succeed. Tom is an outstanding course director who brings his personal business experiences into the class room to help you create a successful business. Tom conducts his class in the most constructive manner so that you get the most out of every lesson. I just wanted to write and tell you how happy I have been with my instructor training I have taken with your establishment. Course Director Tom has been great. His personal attention and experience with IDC's and PADI I.E's was obvious during my instructor training. I was at the I.E. with candidates who had taken the IDC from other Dive Shops and it was obvious Tom had me much more prepared than the other students I was with. Local shops had told me an IDC in a week was a terrible idea and tried to convince me to make it a 6 month process. That is crazy. I think I learned more by reinforcing the learning constantly over the week and wouldn't have retained as much spreading it over a long period. I felt confident and happy with his instruction going into the I.E., but after going through the process, was even more elated as I knew I was more prepared than anyone else. I am coming back to you guys to do my Staff so I can continue using your awesome classroom and facilities, and learn more from Course Director Tom.
